Dear <<First Name>>,

Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” Exodus 33:18

The entire thirty-third chapter of Exodus is instructive regarding hearts that are set toward seeking after and knowing the Lord. In it is found the autobiographical conversation between Moses and the Lord regarding their relationship with one another. I believe it is the transition point from "servant" to "lover" for Moses. Within this dialogue Moses makes this prayer/statement. "Now, show me your glory."

There is something in the heart of every Christ follower that longs for a greater revelation of the Lord. Unfortunately, while knowing Him at a deeper level is available to all, most are content to stand around and watch others meet with Him with a passion for His presence (Exodus 33:8). Instead of pursuing Him themselves, they trade their personal experience for a vicarious one. Like watching the Discovery channel, they never get off the couch and take a walk in the woods.

While reading this, a couple personal questions come to mind. What is keeping me from determining a passion for His Presence and what must I do to begin pursuing it?

The meditation of my heart says, there are two reasons for the first question. First, there is a familiarity to my patterns. Like my marriage, I know, love, and esteem my wife. However, the passion to know her more deeply gets caught up by the routine. There is a second reason. I do not make room for it. It has less to do about ability, but the desire to make time for it.

The answer to my second question is simply wanting my relationship with Jesus to be passionate and re-invigorated. While the life of the Spirit is always "God coming to me," His coming to me is initiated when my heart desires Him.

When I read this verse, it reminds me that I want to know and love Jesus with my whole being. I want to see Him. I want to experience His fullness. I know you do too. Don't settle for watching others live a passionate spiritual life. Choose today to allow Him to pursue you fully.

Here is today's reading:
