A new week, reader—hello again from Composure

Picture drawing patient, calculated breaths and moving through beautifully haunted seas with a slow purpose. The exploration game DEEP is an Oculus Rift exercise in finding one's own sense of internal rhythm.

And while breathing deep, imagine inhaling the frustration of even a master sculptor in the first 25, 100, 500 chips as solid block gives way not to masterpiece but to slightly less solid block. Perhaps if we're lucky, composure thereafter, with these imperfect first drafts of great works in mind. The above from Proust's Remembrance Of Things Past.

I once watched two teenage siblings walking down the street, passing by an older man with a wistful jacket and equally storied dog. This is a dog that seems to be annoyed he's in something of a makeshift raincoat; clouds are coming but he wouldn't really know that. The younger sibling very obviously wants to pet the dog. But in a silent language they've fostered it's clear that the older one has an opinion about this. It takes awhile to know that not everything needs an opinion, in fact we're often taught otherwise. The younger one picks up on this anyway and the two simply move on.

As part of my own efforts to find patience, each Composure scarf is made and worn to reflect on the stories of people with perspectives worth embodying. Scarves and stories at alwayscomposure.com

Uncertainty plagues all meaningful pursuits; if we are to do our best work in the face of uncertainty, perhaps we must first hone perspectives that allow us to stay the creative path. This week, patience.
