Love Letters to Strangers: Hannah Brencher

When Hannah Brencher found herself facing the hallow walls of depression in New York, she left hundreds of love letters scattered throughout the city, only to find herself again. If you've never left a love letter for a stranger, I promise you'll find it to be thrilling.

#100portraitsofatrainconductor: Liz Flores

Chicago artist Liz Flores takes on the #100DayProject with her own spin, crafting 100 portraits of Chicago's train conductors. Your daily commute (and your favorite train conductor) will be filled with new shapes and colors after spending time on her Instagram.

They Came At Night: Lindsay Branham

This short film created by humanitarian videographer Lindsay Branham & team tells the story of an abducted child soldier who flees from Joseph Kony’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) after years of being forced to fight. The film was a collaboration with those living in the middle of war, and created for those living in war. Through mobile cinema, the film is being toured throughout central Africa to encourage communities to peacefully receive LRA combatants who surrender.

As part of my own efforts to find perspective in unlikely new places, each Composure scarf is made and worn to reflect on the stories of people with virtues worth embodying. Scarves and stories at alwayscomposure.com

ABOUT THIS NEWSLETTER

Uncertainty plagues all meaningful pursuits; if we are to do our best work in the face of uncertainty, perhaps we must first hone perspectives that allow us to stay the creative path. This week, perspective.
Curated this week by Carla Blumenthal of tea+purpose, an organization that hosts tea gatherings for 20 & 30-something women to connect with their inner lives in community. Get your tea on with them.
