Grading Made Easier

In 2015 TurnItIn will be made available to the CSC community through an LLC subscription. TurnItIn is a suite of web tools that facilitate written assignment grading and feedback delivery. The tools will be integrated with Sakai, CSC's learning management system (LMS), to improve ease of use and to assure broad utilization. While TurnItIn is well-known for OriginalityCheck, its premier plagiarism detection tool, the tool suite has evolved into a more comprehensive application for written assignment evaluation. The LLC will provide TurnItIn knowledge sessions and hands-on workshops in January 2015. College faculty and staff are invited to attend. [Read more.] [Sign up.]

Discovering Discovery, Part II

Any fish in the sea can execute a Google search, but does this make the fish an exceptional researcher? CSC librarians would sigh a collective "No." Search is so much more than Google. Search is about libraries and databases and discovery techniques! The LLC is keen to launch its Book Club in 2015. We're looking for title suggestions and for faculty, staff, and students who may have an interest in facilitating book (or other media) discussions. If you want to share a great title with us or become a facilitator or member, contact shines@csc.edu or join us on our GoodReads site!

Congratulations to all of the CSC presenters at this year's Open Education Conference in Washington, DC. Margaret Crouse, Maggie Darnell, Christine Fullerton, Don King, Elizabeth Ledbetter, Jesse Sealey, and Zachary Varpness -- the Library Learning Commons applauds your efforts and your interests in all things open!
