The Commoner: An LLC Monthly
The Commoner is the Library Learning Commons' monthly newsletter. It's delivered to in-boxes across the Chadron State College community and is designed to connect our patrons to LLC activities and events as well as recommend useful academic resources and research strategies through a variety of social media.

New Library Reading Lists for Sakai

The TLC and LLC are thrilled to announce an exciting new addition to Sakai. This month, the LLC acquired EBSCO Curriculum Builder, which faculty and students will come to know as the Reading List. The Reading List makes integration between library resources and Sakai seamless. Students will be able to access instructor-assigned library resources without logging in to the library databases or following any special instructions. The new tool also simplifies copyright compliance and provides the LLC with helpful utilization statistics.  [Read more].
It's Raining Books 

Hallelujah, it's raining books! April brought a deluge of books to the LLC. To be exact, we received 117 new books ordered by academic departments, 17 boxes of donated curriculum and children's books, and 29 Rotating Collection books. New titles include Fox Tossing: and Other Forgotten and Dangerous Sports, Pastimes, and Games, Let the People Rule: Theodore Roosevelt and the Birth of the Presidential Primary, Big Question: Why We Can’t Stop Talking About Science, Faith and God, and Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. [Read more].
Moving Office Hours out of the Office 

For the past two semesters, Dr. Kurt E. Kinbacher has hosted a study table in one of the LLC's study rooms. He has recently posted a short article about his experience on the LLC Blog. If you are a faculty member interested in starting your own study table, contact us at or at 308-432-6271. [Read more]. 
Signs, Signs, Everywhere There's Signs

The signage in the LLC recently got a major overhaul. With the addition of multiple new groups over the past few years, the signs were quite out-of-date. With the completion of this project, the signage is now accurate and eye-catching. [Read more].

ESP Institute 

It's not too late to sign up for the Essential Studies Program Spring Institute. The Institute will be held May 11 & 12 and will focus on civic engagement, service learning, and other exciting topics. To register, email Jeri Neuharth ( by April 29.
