The Centerian: A TLC Monthly
The Centerian is the Teaching & Learning Center's monthly newsletter. It's delivered to in-boxes across Academic Affairs and is designed to connect faculty and staff to TLC-sponsored activities and events; it also recommends useful academic resources and teaching strategies through a variety of social media.

Lessons Learned

In this year's final TLC faculty seminar, Don King, Professor of Education, will share the lessons he learned during the process of designing and developing a massive open online course (MOOC). The TLC seminar is open to faculty and staff, so please come and listen to Don's story of MOOC adventure, the advice he might give based on his experience, and the bright ideas he has gained from the journey. The seminar is scheduled for April 26, 11:00-noon, in the TLC Faculty Multiuse Room (ADM 030). (Read more.)

Accessibility in Action in April

Looking for tools to facilitate the effortless creation of accessible web content for your online courses? Sam Ballard, TLC Interim Director, can help! Sam will conduct April's Teaching & Learning Center workshop designed to provide participants with tools to evaluate the accessibility of course web and media content. Sign up to examine and apply strategies for designing and organizing various elements of web-based instructional materials to ensure they are accessible for all students. [Read more.]

Go Virtual with Vidyo

Videoconferencing is an amazing way to to broaden the learning experience for students by bringing outside speakers and experts into your classroom. The technology can also work to bridge the distance between faculty and students. Jereme Patterson, the TLC's IT Analyst, has developed a tutorial with step-by-step instructions to get you started using Vidyo and inviting guests to join your classroom sessions. [Read more.]

The TLC Welcomes David Kendrick

The Teaching & Learning Center will soon have a new Associate Vice President of Teaching and Learning Technologies to guide its operations as well as those of the Library Learning Commons (LLC). Dr. David Kendrick will step into the AVP of TLT role on July 1, and we are excited to welcome him to Chadron State College. Christine Fullerton, the LLC's Public Services Librarian, recently authored an article highlighting Dr. Kendrick's background and experience.  [Read more.]
