Weekly Specials (May 31 - June 6)

Breakfast
Farmer’s Bounty             $8.75

“A Bumper Crop of Goodness”
Scramble with 3 free-range eggs, kale, mushrooms, tomato, onions and served with multi-grain toast and our famous European-style potatoes or  two pancakes. 
Add sharp cheddar, swiss, feta or mozzarella for $1.00

Lunch
“Chicken” Caesar Salad
or Wrap        $9.25
Grilled soy chicken with a hearty serving of crisp romaine lettuce, tomatoes, shredded parmesan cheese, croutons and our own delicious Caesar dressing. 

Weekly Beans and Greens    $9.25
White beans with fresh garlic, tomato, kale, feta cheese (or kalamata olives for vegans) and whole wheat pasta served with salad or sautéed veggies. This is really tasty, healthy and filling! 

 

Fri & Sat Night Special (June 5-6)

Bali Hai (Vegan)
Grilled vegetarian duck sautéed with mixed vegetables in a mildly spicy Indonesian peanut sauce, served with organic brown basmati rice.

Frittata Italiano          $8.50
3 free-range eggs with mozzarella cheese, grilled tomatoes and fresh basil served with  multi-grain toast and European-style breakfast potatoes or 2 buttermilk pancakes. 
(Whole wheat pancake substitute …$ .50 extra)

Lunch
Chickpea Salad Sandwich (Vegan)
This hefty sandwich will delight you with its amazing flavor and it is so healthy!   Amazing chickpea salad in our homemade vegan sauce with a hint of cumin on toasted  multi-grain bread with romaine lettuce and ripe tomatoes.  
All we can say is YUMMM-YYY!!!     $8.50

 

Beans and Greens (Vegan)   $9.25
Black Beans and Brown Rice 
Mexican style black beans (includes grilled onions, green peppers, fresh garlic and a touch of salsa) and organic brown basmati rice, served with cup soup. 
Add sharp cheddar cheese    $9.75

Vegetarian Chili   (Vegan)      
An amazing three bean chili with tons of veggies; served with corn bread.

Healthy Dietary Tips

Nature’s jewels, grape contain phytochemicals that may help to reduce risk for heart disease, cancer, and strokes. Studies also indicate that in addition to grapes, grape juice, and raisins are also rich in disease-fighting compounds.

What’s in it

Anthocyanins. Laboratory studies suggest that these pigments in red and purple grapes may suppress the growth of tumor cells.

Ellagic acid. This phenolic acid in grapes (and other berries) is thought to protect the lungs against environmental toxins.

Flavonoids. Grapes contain high levels of these heart-healthy antioxidant pigments, which may have the ability to prevent blood from clotting. Both red and purple grape juice are rich in flavonoids.

Pectin. This soluble fiber may help to lower cholesterol. 

Quercetin. A flavonoid linked to a reduced risk for cancer development, quercetin may also reduce clotting in blood vessels, and offer relief to people with respiratory ailments.

Resveratrol. This phytochemical, found in the skin of grapes, has been linked to the ability to fight cancer. It is also being studied for cholesterol-lowering effects and its ability to help prevent strokes.

Maximizing the benefits

To reap the full benefits of grapes, it is best to select red or purple varieties, which seem to contain the highest concentrations of healthful compounds.
