Superintendent's Message

Dear Community Members, as we approach the end of the year and make plans to gather with family and friends, I want to reflect on the past five months with my new community. I am thankful for how warm and welcoming you have made me feel on every visit, meeting, and gathering. I enjoyed each one of my school visits and plan to continue to tour each campus until I have toured all 54. The passion and dedication that I have seen from this community has been overwhelming, and I am proud to be a part of it.

Measure T Passes

Investment in West Contra Costa Unified School District Students Continues. Voters overwhelmingly approved an extension of the parcel tax that supports public school students in the West Contra Costa Unified School District. Measure T passed with 75.07 percent of the vote.

2016-17 LCAP Town Halls

WCCUSD welcomes students, families, staff, and community members to learn more about the 2016-17 LCAP and provide feedback on each goal and its actions and services. Town Halls will take place from 6:30 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Kennedy High School in the Cafeteria/Multipurpose Room and Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Pinole Middle School in the Cafeteria/Multipurpose Room.

Parents Graduate from District Parent University Program 

Investment in West Contra Costa Unified School District Students Continues. Nearly 400 parents and guardians graduated from the Parent University program in the West Contra Costa Unified School District in the 2015-16 school year, giving them a better understanding of how schools work and how to best prepare their child for success in the classroom.

Robotic Lessons at Coronado Fueled by Chevron Project

A robot rolled into the 4th grade classroom at Coronado Elementary on Monday morning to transport educational technology to the students. The robot’s visit was not a regular occurrence — not yet at least –- as the Richmond High robotics team had been showcasing the device as part of a promotion for the 7th Annual Chevron Fuel Your School program.

Chevron Announces 2017 King Scholarship Program

Chevron Richmond has once again announced our 2017 Chevron Richmond Black History Awareness Committee Dr. William F. King Scholarship program. Since 2004 the Chevron Richmond Black Employee Network (BEN) has awarded over 40 scholarships to deserving high school students from the West Contra Costa Unified School District.
