Historic partnership and Vice Regal Patronage marks 500 days until GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) today marked the 500-day countdown to the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship to be held in Sydney, August 2018 with the announcement of a historic corporate partnership and appointment of the Championship Patron at Government House, Sydney.
Organising committee for GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships Announced!

Disability Sports Australia is delighted to announce that the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship has been established. Comprising some of Australia’s leading event and marketing professionals, parasport administrators and business leaders, the LOC is chaired by Steve Loader and first met in March. With 15 months to go to what will be the largest Wheelchair Rugby event staged in the Southern Hemisphere since the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, the countdown for the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship has well and truly begun!

South Australia wins 2017 Wheelchair Aussie Rules National Championship!

In March, we held the second Wheelchair Aussie Rules National Championship, with SIX teams competing over four days in Melbourne. The South Australian's held onto their title of National Champions with a final win against Tasmania 102 - 44 and Defence 2 got the bronze medal after beating Victoria 67 - 29.

Australian Wheelchair Rugby has a new home We redeveloped the Fierce 4 Rugby website to allow players, teams and organisations to register their programs, competitions or events online so that spectators and athletes can attend. Register your program, competition or event online now!

Gliders win Silver in Osaka Cup

The Australian Gliders have started the road to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics with a silver medal at the Osaka Cup, their first international tournament under new coach David Gould.

Facing host nation Japan as well as Great Britain and the Netherlands who both finished in the top four at the Rio Games, Australia will be pleased with the team's performance which featured three new faces in Isabel Martin, Bree Mellberg and Annabelle Lindsay.
