If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it’s probably a helicopter — and therefore, unsafe.

We will not be having our Monthly Refresher Meeting in July due to so many members traveling to AirVenture.

Also, we will not be having our monthly refresher meeting in August either.
Instead, join us for our Annual BBQ at the FNL jetCenter Hangar! We'll have hotdogs, burgers, chips, drinks, and other BBQ essentials.  Bring your spouse and kids!

A Fond Farewell - Steve Wolf

I’ve enjoyed serving you as President of FNL Pilots Association for 3-1/2 years.  But my career path is taking me to Kansas, so I’ve resigned as of July 1, 2019.  I leave the Association in the capable hands of your new President, James Hays. Read More

Airport Updates

Remote Tower
The remote tower project has entered the hiring phase!  Well, sort of.  The FAA is accepting bids for controllers.  Once this process is complete, the new controllers will undergo a 30-day regional training to familiarize themselves with our area, the same as they do at traditional towers.  Once this training is complete, Phase 1 of the Tower Operations will commence.

Northern Training Area
The Airport has been working with the flight schools on the Airport and Aims Community College to develop procedures, corridors, and flight training areas near the Airport to enhance operational safety.  This will be accomplished by standardizing arrival and departure procedures for flight training and identifying the practice areas and associated zones that will be used for said flight training activities.

The FNL Pilots Association Members have been asked over the next couple of days to provide feedback into this process and raise any concerns.  You can download the entire draft spec for review.

The draft spec details altitudes of use in each section, as well as the proposed new air-to-air frequency, while in or transitioning the practice area.

Please submit your feedback to this proposal via the Feedback Form.

AWOS Issues
Several of you have expressed concern with the recent AWOS outages.  Unfortunately, this appears to be part of the growing pains in transitioning communication providers and relocating in the new Remote Tower location.  They are working to mitigate these issues.

AIMs Flight School
Starting August 6, AIMs flight school will be fully operational from the FNL Airport.  Their operations will be mainly from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Since their offices are located East of the main airport, they will most likely be using Runway 6/24 as their taxiway.

Airport Commission Updates

2020 Rates and Fees
This month's Meeting Packet contains the proposed annual fee structures and changes.  It appears that the rates and fees will be staying consistent with 2019 values outside of the annual land lease changes based on CPI.
