The Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 14 -  February 20

Pope Benedict XVI says the following words in his encyclical letter “God is Love”: “In sacramental communion I become one with the Lord, like all the other communicants. As Saint Paul says, “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread” (1 Cor 10:17). Union with Christ is also union with all those to whom he gives himself. I cannot possess Christ just for myself; I can belong to him only in union with all those who have become, or who will become, his own. … Love of God and love of neighbor are now truly united: God incarnate draws us all to himself. … A Eucharist which does not pass over into the concrete practice of love is intrinsically fragmented” (n. 14). These words remind us of our calling to love all our neighbors.

8:00 a.m. - Mass with Imposition of Ashes (Holy Cross) - Reservations required
6:30 p.m. - Mass with Imposition of Ashes (BEHS PAC) - Reservations required

The Vatican has issued revised guidelines for the imposition of ashes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of placing the ashes on the forehead in the shape of a cross with the formula being spoken to each person, this year the celebrant will speak the formula only once over the congregation and then will sprinkle ashes on the crown of the person's head.

Ash Wednesday is a day of obligatory fasting and abstinence. Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 may eat only one regular meal and two snacks. All Catholics age 14 and up are prohibited from eating meat. All Fridays during Lent are days of abstinence from meat.

The Mass reservation link will be emailed to parishioners at 12:00 p.m. this Sunday, February 14.
  • STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Every Friday in Lent you can join us at 6:00 p.m. to pray the Stations of the Cross, at Bishop England High School. Meet at the grassy median between the roadway next to the tennis courts and the parking lot behind the track field.
  • FORMED FRIDAY: Led by the Spirit: 40 days to Grace and Glory  Journey towards Easter with Dr. Tim Gray by signing up for Daily Lenten Reflections. Each day you will receive in your inbox a short video which features Dr. Gray commenting on the daily Mass readings, explaining the Scriptures, and providing you with concrete ideas on how to apply them to your Christian life. All episodes are available for free on FORMED, or sign up via the link in the title above to receive them by email each day in Lent. Or if you'd prefer to read, rather than watch daily reflections, Bishop Robert Baron will also be sending out written daily Lenten Reflections.
  • CHILDREN: New to the parish and want to get started Altar Serving? We'll be holding an Altar Server Refresher training on Sunday February 21st - email Madelaine Beckford for more details!

In addition, please pray for the repose of the soul of fellow parishioner, Joe Simas.  Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to his wife Betty and all their family.

Yet another request for prayers for Charles Noel Mantie, father of parishioner Stephen Mantie.  Charles passed away on February 10 in Davenport, Florida.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.  Amen.
May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
