Meeting with Marshal Carrill
From the new Facebook group Business Owners of Nederland  started by Sasha and John at Mountain Man "May 2, at 6:00pm is our meeting with the chief regarding the transient/West Mag situation. It'll be at the Nederland Community Center. This is an opportunity for business owners to voice our concerns with the chief and each other. We haven't had the chance to personally go around and invite everyone, so please help us get as many people as possible. Sorry for the short notice. We hope to have more meetings in the future if this is productive."

2016 Election Results
By now most of you have heard that the Debt Authorization ballot measure failed with 33 opposed and 29 for. Unfortunately, all ballots were counted, even those without an affidavit, so the actual results are not really known. We checked with our lawyer and although it was wrong on the part of the Election Official/judges to count all the ballots, given the process that had been spelled out to the voters and the election officials, it wasn't illegal or malicious. It is also unfair to those who followed the process whether it changes the outcome or not.  Our only recourse would be to hire a lawyer and have the election invalidated but this would take time and money. Instead, we are going to pursue funding to go back to ballot in November.

For those of you that supported the debt authorization, we thank you very much. It was very hard to fight the misinformation and scare tactics used by the opposition but the conversations we've had since the election have been very productive. Most people realize that to get improvement started in downtown Nederland that they need to be more vocal and supportive as well as help keep the conversation going.  If you would like to see the debt authorization on the November Ballot and want to help with it, please let us know. info@nederlanddowntown.org

191   number of ballots out
Of those ballots, the outcomes were as follows:
43     ballots voted with affidavits
19     ballots voted without affidavits but counted with the Election Judges’ verification of signer
3       ballots voted but rejected without affidavit & unknown signer
116   ballots were not returned = un-voted
10     ballots returned by the P.O. un-voted (return to sender)

NDDA Business Directory now open to all Nederland Businesses ...

There is a pretty nice business directory on the NDDA Website and NDDA businesses are encouraged to "claim" their listing and add a description and hours. For an example of what your listing could look like updated go to the Carousel of Happiness. After claiming your listing, the NDDA will approve your claim and you'll be able to start updating your information.  If you have any questions, let Cindy know.

The NDDA Board voted to open up the Directory all Nederland Businesses and we are ready to do that.  From the Add a Listing page you can add your business. You'll receive a confirmation email and the NDDA admin will approve your listing. You'll be able to go back and edit it and keep it up to date yourself or you can email Cindy.  You do have to have an up-to-date business license with the Town of Nederland.
