Meals for Caleb and Colleen
Life with a new addition to your family is a busy time; however, life with a new addition to your family when your house is under construction is challenging. So, to help Caleb and Colleen remove the stress of making dinner, we would like to create a meal delivery schedule. If you would be interested in making a dinner for them please contact Jeslyn at 321-2064 (home) or 599-7518 (cell), I will put you on the schedule. They will be having family stay with them, so plan on the meal to feed about 4 people. The foods to steer clear of are: beans, mushrooms and fish. They are hoping they will be home with the baby by July 28th, so our first meal will be scheduled for July 29th. From Caleb, "we really appreciate the kindness and support". Thank you for considering taking them a meal.

A Note from the Sprucing-Up Team
We can't think of a better time to spruce things up than with a pastoral change at church. A small team has been formed to come up with some ideas on how to "spruce-up" our gathering/lobby area. The members of our team are: Brenda Brodhagen, Carl Doubleday, Jeslyn Gordon, Brianna Gordon, Sharla Harpole, Tamara Preston and Judy Shehigian. At the June Operations Team meeting, we got approval for $1,000 to do some sprucing up to the gathering/lobby area and cookie room to make these areas feel more welcoming and inviting. We want to make the BEST first impression we can to anyone coming through our doors. Some changes have already been started, but we thought we would pass along what we are planning for the rest of the space.
Some of you may have already noticed we did some painting in the old "cookie room" which is now the new "Kids Zone". This area will be a fun zone for kids to play in before and after church. We painted it a nice blue color and had a very nice mural painted on one of the walls. We plan on getting a kids table and giant Lego bricks for kids to play with. We will be moving some pictures around and removing one of the round tables and placing it in the narthex area. Furniture placement might change as we rearrange to find the best layout. Don't fret...cookies and coffee will still be served, but in the kitchenette area once we get back to having this inside again.
Some ideas that we are bouncing around for the large gathering area are: painting all the walls, removing the large bulletin board and putting up new artwork with maybe some new track lighting, placing word decals above the doors for directions, and word decals in the coffee area. Some furniture ideas we have are getting some pub height tables to be placed by the windows and move the existing furniture around to make the conversation areas more inviting including in the narthex area, but still keeping space for the choir to line up. At some point, it would be nice to get new matching furniture to update our look.
The east entrance will be getting cleaned up too. The food pantry supplies will be put into an extra cabinet to help clean up that space. We had also talked about putting a word decal that says welcome in lots of different languages on the big blue wall by the window in Sharla's office. We will also paint this space to help connect this area with the gathering area.
We hope everyone will enjoy the sprucing-up that will be taking place over the next month. Our goal is to be ready for kick-off Sunday which is September 12th. If you have any questions and thoughts, please contact anyone on our committee.
