Dear friends,

We hope you have all had a good start to 2017!

Here at Global Young Greens preparations are well underway for our 4th Congress. As some of you may know, the Congress will take place alongside the Global Greens and European Green Party congresses, making it the largest gathering of global greens in history!

As we continue to develop the congress programme we will be regularly updating our Facebook event page, so make sure you have clicked attending! If you are unable to travel to Liverpool, keep an eye out for our livestreams, updates, and tweets during 30th March - 2nd April!

In this newsletter we bring you updates regarding our crowdfunding campaign and a short overview of recent developments in the planning of congress.

We are working hard to make this our best, most diverse, global congress yet! And we are very excited to meet you all!

Conference Accessibility

Do you have mobility problems or are you supporting someone who does? Molly Scharaschkin from the Young Greens of England and Wales Disability Group has put together a comprehensive access guide to conference, which provides information regarding access to the venue and accessible restaurants, hostels and hotels in Liverpool.

How representative is the congress so far?

We are pleased to announce that we already have 60 confirmed Global Young Green delegates who are due to attend conference. However, we can do better! We are currently lacking representation from Asia, Latin America and Africa. If you are a Global Young Green from one of these regions, please contact us!  We are striving to make Greens 2017 as global and inclusive as possible.

Did you know?

Liverpool is the second city in the UK to implement a One Tree per Child proposal! The proposal encourages children to become part of their community by planting trees in parks and green spaces across the city.

What to look forward to? International Night at Congress

We are pleased to announce that on the evening of Thursday 30th March we will be holding an international night! It will be a chance for GYG delegates to present the favourite parts of their own cultures to the community. This could be music, dance, jokes, sayings etc. and you can do it alone or in groups! (More details about how to get involved will follow!)

The night will also incorporate the launch of the Young Greens of England and Wales’ People Not Numbers Campaign, which aims to build awareness about freedom of movement and the rights of migrants and refugees. We are excited to announce that we will be joined by Terry Reintke, who recently gave us a generous donation  for the 2017 Congress! She is an inspiring German Green, Member of European Parliament and previous spokesperson for the Federation of European Young Greens. And as if this wasn't exciting enough, we are also pleased to confirm the attendance of Jean Lambert, Green Member of European Parliament for London who will be sharing her views on the importance of freedom of movement.

More details about other programme events will follow!

Liverpool had one of the strongest REMAIN votes in the UK, with 58% voting to REMAIN in the European Union!
