November's Divine Faculty is Elimination

Elimination is the ability to release, remove, denounce, deny, and let go.

I release anything and everything that no longer serves
my unfolding Good!

Daylight Saving Time Ends Sunday at 2 am

Do Greater Things Discussion Group

9 am in Sacred Grounds & Books

Do Greater ThingsJoin Paula Land and Laura Meade at 9 am for a book study using the text, Do Greater Things - following in Jesus' Footsteps. This month we will be discussing the final spiritual practice - Service. (though we have the “Final Words” to discuss in December). In one way or another, we all live in service of one another. This is how we can truly express the Christ Spirit- through our gifts and talents. We give of ourselves and we allow others to give of themselves to us. What a beautiful, reciprocal relationship!

Remember that we start promptly at 9 am and will conclude by 9:45 so we have time to transition to the service. If you have to arrive late, just come in and join the group, who will gratefully welcome your presence!

This Sunday, November 3 at 10 am

Guest Speaker, Chris Klostermann

His Topic: Connecting with the Outside World:
An Inside Job

Chris will take us through an exploration of practical self-compassion as a way to build the capacity necessary to more intentionally connected with our individual isolated outside world. By looking at the Prodigal Son parable metaphysically, plus the work of Marge Piercy and David Brooks, we will decipher for ourselves how we can show up for others in true connection.

Chris has been a member of Unity CR since 2012, and has served on the Board of Trustees as both Vice President and President.  Most recently, Chris served as chair of the Minister Search Team. In addition, he serves as Platform Chair and has immersed himself in many joyful experiences with Unity CR such as the garage sales, Spirit Choir, and the Freedom Festival parades.

Bingo Fundraising Team Meeting

Strong Room at 11:15 am

Bingo
The BINGO fundraiser team will meet Sunday after the service and is encouraging anyone who has an interest in this event to attend. The team will be choosing the event date, review required jobs (at least 13 volunteers are required the day of the event), and do any additional planning for setup (tables, technical equipment, etc.), food service, baked goods, cashiers, floor workers, table sellers, parking, advertising/marketing, etc.  These Bingo nights draw between 100 to 150 people.  It's a great way to bring attention to UCR as well as raise a significant amount of funds.  However, it takes a great number of volunteers. Everyone is welcome!

UCR Fun Club

Sunday after service.

Tracey Supplee is coordinating a "Fun Club".  The idea is for members of the congregation to spend time together outside the center in social activities.  The first adventure is to the Amama Colonies on Sunday, November 3 after service.  We will be dining at the Ox Yoke Inn and need to confirm the number for lunch.  Contact Tracey (319-202-7519) if you would like to join in the "Fun".  After lunch, we will stay and do some holiday shopping. Carpooling is available.

Volunteer for the Alternative Gift Market

Saturday, December 7

UnityCR is hosting the Alternative Gift Market for one more year!
There are many volunteer spots to fill - and it is very important to sign up in advance! We have had to turn away volunteers who show up on the day. :(

Sign Up to VolunteerDonate baked goods.
Move tables & chairs.
Be a greeter.
Help with lunch.

Nominations for Board of Trustees

Are you interested in serving on the UCR board of trustees? Our bylaws say the board is comprised of 5-7 members. There will be at least two positions open and as many as four if we go up to 7 members! We will have elections at our annual meeting on Sunday, January 19, 2020. This is a great opportunity! For more information see Polly Gould, Greg McGaffic, or Glady McMellor, your nominating committee members.

Upcoming November/December
Exploring Unity Series

This 3-part series will be offered again during November and December.
The dates to be determined.  If you are curious about all the parts of our UCR home, you will find answers on a tour in Exploring Our Home.  The second portion Exploring Foundations offers classes on Unity basics-Fillmores, metaphysics, prayer, prosperity, five principles.  Exploring You looks at individual spiritual gifts.  This is a great series to become familiar with Unity teachings.  All 3 are required if you are interested in membership.  Interested?  Contact Jan, LUL or Susan, LUL

Also, in November we are honoring the Exploring Unity Team as the ministry of the month.

Spiritual Education Enrichment (SEE) Class Opportunity

November 29, 30 & December 1

UCR has an outstanding opportunity to have Rev. Paul Hasselbeck teach either a SEE class or a workshop the weekend following Thanksgiving.  Please let Laura Meade know by Sunday, November 10 if you have an interest in either because we need a minimum number in attendance.
Here’s a link that explains more about
SEE courses: https://www.unityworldwideministries.org/uwsi/see-faqs

Unity SEE Classes

Rev. Hasselbeck's suggested topics include Metaphysics I, Metaphysics II, The Twelve Powers, and Bible Interpretation.  These topics can be either a SEE class or a workshop.

Artist of the Week

Jane Tappmeyer

Once again this year, we have our "Artists of the Week" in the foyer each Sunday in November and December.  Members of the congregation will be selling their beautiful creations with a portion of the sales going to support UCR.  This week's featured artist is Jane Tappmeyer who does watercolor cards. It's a wonderful opportunity to find unique gifts for the special people on your holiday gift-giving list.
