"Living In The Light of Love"

This is the third lesson in our Advent Series, "The Light of Christmas."  Join us as we explore the words of John Shelby Spong: "The experience of Jesus was an experience of love. This love was a powerful life-affirming reality.  It was love that broke every human barrier and that swept over every human prejudice. Jesus lived the love of God. This love was and is wasteful love, embracing love, inclusive love."  
 

UnityCR is supporting Families Helping Families this Holiday Season.


Families Helping Families serves children in Foster Care.  They are in need of basic small/elementary size items such as: 
Socks
T-shirts
Boys & girls underwear
Sports bras
Pajama pants
Boxes will be placed in the CommUnity Room during regular business hours from December 15 - 22. Please call Ruth at 319-393-5422 to schedule a "no contact" drop-off time. Donated items will be delivered after December 22.

Nominations for Board of Trustees

As required by the bylaws, we have begun the Board of Trustee nominating process.  If you are an active member of the Unity Center of Cedar Rapids and would like to place your name in nomination, we invite you to request an application and packet from the Center office. Packets will be available on November 13th. There are two three-year term positions to fill.  The election will take place during the annual meeting in January.  If you are interested, please email office@unitycr.org or call 319.393.5422.

Pastoral Care: If you need encouragement and support, spiritual counseling and pastoral care is available through the center.  Please reach out and Rev. Debra or one of our Licensed Unity Leaders will reach out to you.  Email minister@unitycr.org or call the center at (319) 393-5422.

Sunday Prayer: Our Prayer Room Partners are available via phone after the online service, Sundays 11 am - noon.  If you have a prayer concern, call (319) 382-2009 and a member of the prayer team will pray with you.

Join a Gratitude Group!

Grateful living is an affirmation that God is present within every experience and circumstance. It opens our eyes to the blessings all around us, and opens our lives to the flow of abundance.  It lifts our minds and hearts as it infuses us with joy.

With this in mind, we are also organizing new gratitude groups.  The members of these groups contact each other regularly to share their gratitude lists. 

If you would like to be part of a group, click on one of the links below.  Some groups will connect via email and some via text.  If you sign up for a group, you must share your email or phone number with your group members.

We will celebrate the Light of Christmas as it expresses through us in joy!

New Year’s Eve Burning Bowl Service  |  December 31st at 6 PM
This is a service of release in preparation for the New Year.

Children's Holiday Benefit Concert with Jonas Magram

Our 25th Annual Children's Holiday Benefit Concert will be broadcast FREE via Zoom on Saturday, December 12, at 7:30 PM Central. Four brilliant musicians will lend their talents: guitarist Michael Cantafio, harpist Annie Savage, pianist Steve Hillis, and Ulleann piper Tim Britton. Together they represent one of the strongest line-ups in our quarter-century history. As always, I'll be hosting and performing a few songs as well.
