CHANCERY TO PARISH COMMUNICATION
SPECIAL EDITION  |  May 18, 2020  |  Vol. 2 No. 20a
This is important information
to share with your employees.

You may have heard about the recent surge in fraudulent unemployment claims in Washington State.  There are reports that authenticating your account with the Washington State Employment Security Department can make it more difficult for someone else to authenticate your account and submit an unemployment claim
on your behalf.

The Employment Security Department has not confirmed whether this is an accepted method to prevent these fraudulent unemployment claims, and we thus cannot give
you advice on whether this is the best course of action.  If you are interested in creating your own account, the attached workflow describes the steps to take.  The link to
create an account is
https://secure.esd.wa.gov/home. Please note that you can create
an account without actually filing an unemployment claim or verifying eligibility for unemployment benefits.
