Beyond Shelter at Home Webinar

Construction Update
Last week Governor Inslee announced that certain “low-risk” constructions projects currently underway may continue if they follow strict guidelines.  This first phase allows for low risk-activity that does not require people to be within 6 feet of each other.  Here is the link to the specific “Phase 1 Guidance.” If you would like to restart work, please reach out to Building and Construction: Ed Foster (ed.foster@seattlearch.org) or Gus Ripple (gus.ripple@seattlearch.org).

USCCB on a coronavirus vaccine
The USCCB is encouraging everyone to advocate for an ethical vaccine for COVID-19. Bishops recently sent a letter to the FDA Commissioner expressing strong support to develop an effective, safe, and widely available vaccine that “ensure that fundamental moral principles are followed in the development of such vaccines, most importantly, the principle that human life is sacred and should never be exploited.” Read more here and encourage your parishioners to take action here.

More funding for SBA Loans
Congress has passed more funding for the CARES Act! We strongly encourage EVERY parish, regardless of current financial situation, to apply for these loans. Several parishes have already receive these funds. If you haven’t applied yet, you should do so immediately.

Please email Sarah Diama (sarah.diama@seattlearch.org) about your loan (how much, with what bank and was it funded.) Please note bookkeeping instructions for the PPP loan can be found
here.

Emergency Relief Appeal
A joint effort is underway between the Archdiocese, Catholic Community Services and the Fulcrum Foundation to develop an emergency funding effort for the parishes, schools and CCS ministries hardest impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The strategy teams are just beginning to meet and reach out to major donors to begin this effort. If you have any questions, please reach out to Deacon Pierce Murphy (pierce.muphy@seattlearch.org) in Stewardship.

Wine
Please be sure to store your unopened wine properly for use at future Masses. After discussions with three Winemakers, Kaufer’s suggest storing wine at a constant temperature of mid 50’s-60 degrees. This is the best way to preserve shelf life as long as possible. Most red wines should be good up to 18 months before beginning to break down.

Help Make Masks for Healthcare Workers
There are many organizations who are requesting masks. This Northwest Catholic story on NWCatholic.org highlights local Catholics sewing to support this call. This article highlights the Sewing Bee call from CCS and the call for masks from CHI Franciscan. Please share with your parishioners who may be eager to put their sewing skills to work.

Pope Francis Writes Prayers for Pandemic
Pope Francis wrote two prayers to Mary to recite at the end of the rosary to ask for her protection and her intercession in stopping the coronavirus pandemic. Find the texts of these two prayers online at NWCatholic.org.
