Learning about social innovation labs

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is a learning organization interested in innovative models of research and collaboration. That’s why Tammara Soma, 2014 scholar, Morris Rosenberg, the Foundation president and chief executive officer, and Gina Beltran, leadership and public interaction program officer, travelled to Vancouver on 18-22 October, to attend the LabWISE training workshop organized by The J. W. McConnell Family Foundation in association with the University of Waterloo’s Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience. +

Foundation’s Alumni Society: new executive committee

The Alumni Society of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is pleased to introduce its new executive committee: 2011 scholar Mélanie Millette (president), 2012 scholar Kerri Froc (vice president), 2007 scholar Jason Morris-Jung (secretary-treasurer), 2013 fellow Jean Leclair, and 2012 mentor Bernard Richard.

Governor General’s Awards recognized Anna-Louise Crago

2013 scholar Anna-Louise Crago has been named a 2016 recipient of the Governor General’s Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case, which recognizes individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the equality for women and girls in Canada. +

Each year, Corporate Knights magazine recognizes exceptional young Canadians who are shaping our sustainable future. This year, 2015 scholar Tahnee Prior made the list for her academic work and her community engagement in environmental and gender rights in Canada’s North. +

Author and journalist Ken Wiwa dies

2005 mentor Ken Wiwa passed away at the age of 47. A Nigerian author and political activist, Wiwa was a former feature writer and columnist at The Globe and Mail. He served as a special assistant to three Nigerian presidents and was the son of environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa. +

The Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue is presented every second year to an individual who has demonstrated international excellence in the use of dialogue to increase mutual understanding and advance complex public issues. +
