The Indigenous future imaginary: Register now

On Wednesday 15 November at 6 pm, join us in Montréal, Quebec at the opening dinner of Essential Ideas, the Foundation's annual forum, when Steven Loft from the Canada Council for the Arts will interview three Indigenous artists from Quebec about their visions of an Indigenous future. How will Indigenous cultures, worldviews, and practices look in 300 years? Why is it important to envision Indigenous peoples in a science-fiction perspective? See the artists' work, hear their visions, and ask them questions of your own.

Our speakers:
  • Jason Edward Lewis, Professor, Research Chair in Computational Media and the Indigenous Future Imaginary, Concordia University; 2014 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow
  • Samian, Anishinabe Musical Artist, Actor, Photographer, and Wapikoni Mobile Spokesperson
  • Skawennati, Kanien’kehá:ka Artist
Our moderator:
  • Steven Loft, Director, Indigenous Arts, Canada Council for the Arts; 2010 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow
