Goat and Sheep Dairy Supply Chain Grants

The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC), hosted by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, announces the availability of grants for New England dairy farmers, processors, and/or producer associations to improve the goat and/or sheep dairy supply chain. 

Projects funded by this grant will develop or expand goat and/or sheep dairy products or markets and positively impact multiple businesses within the goat and/or sheep dairy supply chain. Grant funds can be used to increase the exposure and promotion of regionally produced goat/sheep dairy products through supply chain impacts.

The goal of this grant program is to increase consumer awareness of goat/sheep dairy products, develop market channels and distribution opportunities to increase goat/sheep dairy product placement, support innovative strategies to increase consumption of goat/sheep dairy products, and/or increase business revenues related to goat/sheep dairy products.

Grants will range from $20,000 - $50,000 with a 25% match commitment. $250,000 in available funds.

SNAP Online Purchasing Grants

USDA is offering up to $4 million in cooperative agreements to eligible non-profits to increase the participation of farmers and farmers markets in SNAP online purchasing. Agreements will support building out functionality, and providing assistance to Direct Marketing Farmers and Farmers' Markets to accept SNAP benefits through online transactions.

Workshop: Small Ruminant Health

Join this free workshop to hear strategies for selecting and managing healthy, profitable small ruminant animals and learn about the impact internal parasites have on sheep and goats. Participants will leave the workshop understanding how to recognize and support healthy stock by smart buying, thoughtful pasture management, and careful monitoring. Participant interaction is encouraged.

Aspiring Farmer Workshops

Do you have a dream of starting a farm? Join NOFA-VT for Farm Dreams, a two-part workshop designed to help people clarify what motivates them to farm, get their vision on paper, inventory their strengths and training needs, identify resources and get perspective from an experienced farmer. This series will cover the basics and provide structured activities for you to develop your vision. You will leave with an action plan to support you in making your farm dream a reality.

Present at NESAWG Conference

The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (NESAWG) has extended it's deadline for submitting proposals for presenting at their annual conference. NESAWG is looking for sessions that tackle systemic issues, with engaging activities and presentations that prioritize the leadership and voices of those most impacted by the issue discussed. This year's conference, organized around the theme Resistance and Healing Amidst Crisis and Injustice, will take place virtually over the week of November 8.
