Multi-Business Dairy Agritourism Grant

The first competitive grant round through the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC) is now live! Dairy farmers, dairy processors, and dairy producer associations located throughout Vermont and the northeast (Pennsylvania to Maine) are welcome to apply. 

Projects will need to support multiple dairy farmers and/or processors in the development and marketing of dairy agritourism activities. Projects should:
  • Promote the visibility and of Northeast dairy products.
  • Increase public awareness and understanding of dairy production practices.
  • Include multiple dairy businesses (most participating businesses need to be dairy).
  • Include agritourism activities that support businesses in a geographically contiguous area that allows for coordinated activities which support one another.
Grants will range from $10,000 - $25,000 with a 50% (cash and/or in-kind) match requirement.

Industrial Hemp Conference

Join UVM Extension Northwest Crops and Soils Program, and the Vermont Agency of Ag, for the 3rd Annual Industrial Hemp Conference. This virtual conference will include live and on-demand presentations from leading hemp and cannabis researchers. Topics include integrated pest management and pesticide use, agronomics, feminized seed production, harvest timing, drying and storage techniques, product safety, and hemp policy. Register by noon on February 25.

Water Quality Grants

The Vermont Farm & Forest Viability Program has grant funds available for on-farm projects that help farmers make water quality-related capital investments to improve manure management and soil health, reduce runoff, and ultimately support the long-term success of farm enterprises. Eligible farmers can receive between $5,000 and $40,000 in funding. Matching funds are required and may include federal or state grants as well as cash, loans, or labor.

VT Farmworker Housing Survey

The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board is gathering information on the needs of Vermont farmers around providing safe, adequate, and affordable housing for hired farm workers. The survey is designed for participants in VHCB’s Farm & Forest Viability Program, farms conserved through VHCB or the Vermont Land Trust, and other commercial farms providing housing to farm workers. Answers are confidential and only used together with others’ responses.

Harvest New England Conference

Last chance to sign up for the 8th biennial Harvest New England Agricultural Marketing Conference and Trade Show. This free event, held virtually for the first time, draws hundreds of farmers and farm industry members to participate in workshops and discussions with experts from across the region. This year’s conference theme is Diversifying for Agri-Businesses: Strategies for Weathering the Storms.
