Survey for Food Safety Trainings due Oct. 1

Request where and when the GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) trainings will take place.

The Market Access and Certifications Program of the Oregon Department of Agriculture will be holding food safety trainings in the winter and spring of 2016.

Please take this survey if you are a producer interested in GAP certification and/or selling to schools in the 2016 school year and beyond.

The purpose of the trainings is to:

-   Assist small and medium-size growers seeking first time GAP certification;
-   Provide an overview of how to prepare your business for the Produce Safety Rule and Preventive Controls of the Food Safety and Modernization Act of 2011;
-   Review the necessary documentation and records for GAP audits and certification; and
-   Provide application information about the USDA UFV Pilot (Pilot Project for the Procurement of Unprocessed Fruits and Vegetables) to sell to schools.

ODA has a limited number of cost share contracts ($400 each) available for producers interested in selling unprocessed fruits and vegetables (chopped, peeled, raw, frozen, and dried) to schools. Only producers who have not yet been GAP certified are eligible for the cost share.
