Hi <<First Name>>,

We're delighted to share the 2021 Dying Matters campaign theme, highlighting the importance of being in a good place to die.

More people than ever are dying at home, and COVID-19 has accelerated this trend. We want people to think about the importance of being in a good place when they die – physically, emotionally and with the right care in place – and the end of life planning that ensures they can die in peace.

We also want to open up the space for clinical and policy-driven conversations; shining a light on what has been happening for people whose loved ones have died at home before and during the pandemic, and the resulting impact on those left behind.

Dying Matters Awareness Week, running from 10 - 16 May 2021, is a chance to for you to get involved, to raise your voice and to champion change to make sure that we can all be in a good place when we die.

In a good place to die: An overview

The problem

Where people die is changing. More people than ever are dying at home, and the pandemic has accelerated this trend. With gaps in support structures for people when they die, and for those that are left behind, people are dying without being in the right place.

The solution

In the run up to Dying Matters Awareness Week, we are encouraging people to sign up to join the Dying Matters movement - to raise our voices to highlight what needs to change for people at the end of life, and raise the profile of the care that does exist and the benefit that it gives to dying people and their families.

How you can get involved

Right now, we want you to join us for Dying Matters Awareness Week, running from 10 - 16 May 2021.

You can get involved in many ways - from taking the opportunity to have a conversation with colleagues, to holding your own events during the week. What matters is that you're creating a space for people to talk about being in a good place to die.

We will be providing messaging and digital assets to support your events during the Awareness Week. Everything will be shared direct to your inbox, as well as on the Dying Matters website.
