Book Review!
SUICIDE HOTLINE HOLD MUSIC
by JESSY RANDALL

Local author, Jessy Randall, shines in this new collection of poems/poetry comics. The title, Suicide Hotline Hold Music, perfectly reflects the sentiments of this text—able to evoke an instant smirk coupled with a deep sense of nostalgia. Her short and succinctly comic poems such as " Spontaneous:” So what if I'm not / Very spontaneous? / And anyway I could be / if I wanted to. / I could just up and … / Well, no, I couldn't. / I can't even / think of anything. immerse the reader in a world of delight, which is perhaps why the seeds of truth strike harder, buried beneath the comic casing of life: We can't be pushed into love, / but we can be pushed out. You'll laugh out loud and perhaps feel like you've been punched in the gut with some realness. This book is not to be missed, a local treasure. $12
