A week after eclipsing 1 million for the first time since the earliest days of the pandemic, U.S. hotel group demand rose another 5.7% to almost 1.3 million for the week of September 19-25. At the same time, group average daily rate (ADR) moved past $200 for the first time since February 2020. Overall, U.S. occupancy remained mostly flat at 63.2% while ADR rose more than $2 to $133.69.
U.K. average daily rate continues to recover at a faster pace than occupancy. ADR in regional markets has been consistently above 2019 levels since August, and London recently pushed back above 80% of the pre-pandemic comparable. Regional U.K. occupancy recently dipped after the summer holiday surge, while occupancy improvement has been slow and steady in London.
