U.S. hotel demand jumped in week-over-week comparisons thanks to a travel boost leading into the New Year’s holiday. TSA checkpoint counts showed eight days in a two-week span with more than 1 million passengers. Substantial demand growth is not expected to continue as leisure travel once again dissipates after the holidays.
Overall, December preliminary data shows RevPAR comparisons aligned with the worsened performance of Q4.
