DATA INSIGHTS
Lifted by the New Year’s holiday, U.S. hotel occupancy and average daily rate (ADR) jumped to well beyond 2019 comparables. ADR ($158) was 15.1% higher and an all-time weekly record for the country. While luxury resorts were the ADR standouts for the week, the Top 25 Markets reached almost $180 in aggregate with Miami ($455) and Oahu ($411) at the top of the list.
Most major global markets were near or above 2019 ADR levels on New Year’s Eve. Occupancy indexes were much lower among select markets, however, with only Maldives, Miami, Dubai, and Cairo/Giza at better than 80% of their 2019 comparables. European markets were among the lower occupancy performers because of the Omicron impact.
