Congratulations to Professor Helen Chun Chun is the latest Cornell SC Johnson College of Business faculty member to receive a grant from the CHR's Stanley Sun Faculty Global Research Fund. Amadeus: 2022 Summer Travel Trends "Global hotel bookings in June, July, and August 2022 are on par with 2019 with the potential to grow significantly. Data reveals the transient average daily rate achieved on room bookings globally has increased by 11% over 2019 with the majority of hotel bookings still being made within a week of travel."
For the week ending 18 June, U.S. inflation-adjusted average daily rate (ADR) increased 11% year over year and was slightly above the pre-pandemic comparable. This was the second consecutive week that real ADR was above 2019 levels and the ninth time this year.
Middle East hotel occupancy has trended above 2019 levels since May, while Europe and the U.S. are roughly 90% recovered to pre-pandemic levels. China’s occupancy, on the other hand, is just 70% of 2019 levels.
