Experts from the School of Hotel Administration (SHA), Air Canada, Journera, JetBlue, and Salesforce came together to discuss how the airline industry is adapting to changing regulations, booking patterns, and customer expectations. The panel also covered ways to rebuild customer confidence in air travel.

In October 2020, the Center for Hospitality Research held its 11th annual Sustainability Roundtable virtually. Industry professionals and academics from around the globe joined in on the discussion, which covered the effects of COVID-19 on sustainability, revenue enhancing sustainability initiatives, and emerging hot topics like how to prioritize hygiene and sustainability equally and simultaneously.

LODGING SECTOR METRICS
U.S. weekly occupancy hit 48% for the first time since late October. Popular leisure markets in Florida, with leftover demand from the long holiday weekend, posted the week’s highest levels. The overall U.S. occupancy combined with improved ADR produced noticeable improvement in RevPAR when indexed against 2019 levels.
Amid the extreme cold, displaced Texans fled to local hotels and pushed week-over-week occupancy gains across STR-defined markets in the state. Texas’ occupancy added almost a point to overall U.S. occupancy for the week. A complete Texas analysis is linked.
