Hurry Curry of Tokyo - Yoshi Yoshitani
For this installment of #2HoursInSLU, we hear from Becky Yoshitani, owner of Hurry Curry of Tokyo - Seattle. Discover some of the Asian culture in South Lake Union through her #2HoursInSLU. 

There is good chance you've noticed the huge influx of restaurants in South Lake Union lately. Last January, Hurry Curry of Tokyo launched its first Seattle location here, bringing much more than just delicious Japanese curry and comfort food to South Lake Union. Owner Becky Yoshitani is passionate about Japanese culture and celebrating Asian heritage in South Lake Union and Seattle. 

Along with Japan's "National Dish", Hurry Curry aims to share Japanese culture and tradition. The restaurant window feature local cultural events including the Seattle Cherry Blossom Festival, Aki Matsuri (Autumn Festival), and Bunka no Hi (Cultural Day, Nov. 6) at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of WA. Every Monday evening, Hurry Curry and the Seattle Go Center host a "Go" game night with an extended Happy Hour. The oldest continuous board game, Go has been played in Japan since 1000 A.D. Modernly, top Japanese players are national celebrities. Hurry Curry welcomes beginners and experienced players alike on Monday evenings. Drop in between 5:30 and 8 PM to check it out!

We welcome groups, organizations and individuals to utilize the space for a nominal, sliding scale fee as a venue for workshops, meetings and other events.

In partnership with with Seattle urban farming collective Alleycat Acres and the Department of Neighborhood's P-Patch program, the YMCA Cascade's People Center is revitalizing and expanding the Cascade Giving Garden! Denny Substation Update
The month-long closure of one eastbound lane and one westbound lane are now in effect and will be in place until Friday, November 18. This phase of work will conclude with the closure of all lanes on Denny Way from 11 PM Friday, November 18 - 5 AM Monday, November 21.

Athletic Awards went above and beyond their goal for the Queen Anne Food Bank food drive! They doubled their goal of 10,000 lbs of food donated with a total of 21,000 lbs! The community really came through for this food drive! PEMCO and 2200 Westlake Condominiums also helped them reach their goal by being donation sites.
