Over the past several years the United States foodservice landscape has seen a drastic shift from a crowded market including thousands of QSR chains to a newer, “Fast-casual” format that provides value to the customer with a higher quality product, unique ordering methods, and a keen focus on sustainability.  2014 Q’2 growth rates continue to reiterate this change with QSR same store sales hanging around 1.4% while their fast casual counterparts are realizing 5.1% same store sales growth.

We predict that not only will the shift continue in 2015, but the overwhelming majority of emerging concept growth will come from the fast casual category at a comparable rate of 5 to 1.
