The Diocesan Altar Guild presents: Preserving Tradition and Adapting to Change in the 21st Century

The Fall program is based on ideas you shared with us. Join us for a half-day mini conference on Change. Tradition defines who we are and the reality of change requires adaptation. What does this mean for the altar guild ministry? How do we attract new and younger members? How do we work with our clergy to prepare for worship and the altar for the Lord’s Supper? Come! We will pray together, exchange ideas, break bread and be inspired.

Bishop Marc Andrus is our keynote speaker. We will discuss the challenges with a panel of clergy that includes Altar Guild Directors Sheri Stock from Christ Church Alameda and Michael Spinella from Holy Innocents SF, The Rev. Dr. Mauricio Wilson, Rector of St. Paul's Oakland and The Rev. Dr. Ruth Meyers, Academic Dean and Professor of Liturgics, CDSP. The Rev. Br. Richard Edward Helmer, BSG, Rector, The Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Marin will be moderator. Following the panel and lunch, there will be a tour of the Diocesan Altar Guild Sewing Room downstairs, and an interesting exhibit of vestments that celebrate the liturgical seasons and the artistry of the sacred, upstairs.
