Dear U of MN Medical Reserve Corps Members,
Every year at this time, the energy on campus surges as we welcome the return of students who bring a palpable enthusiasm that permeates our classrooms, hallways, bike paths, and outdoor green spaces.
Our Medical Reserve Corps program is a fortunate recipient of this vivacity and enthusiasm. We have planned a number of events for students, staff, and faculty alike, in the hopes of capitalizing on the increased energy that is buzzing around campus!
I encourage you to browse through the MRC events listed below. We would love to see you at the event(s) that are of interest to you.
Warm regards,
Kathy

Reunification and Family Assistance Center Training Exercise Follow Up
Twenty members of the Logistics Strike Team and thirty eight members of the Behavioral Health Response Strike Team participated in the August 9th Reunification and Family Assistance Center Training Exercise.
Logistics Strike Team members, under the supervision of the Team Leads, were responsible for setting up all signage, arranging rooms based on pre-determined functions, and place equipment in rooms as indicated on maps and written instructions. They completed the site set-up in 1 hour and 25 minutes; a particularly impressive feat considering the scope of their assignment.
The Behavioral Health Response Strike Team members received a site orientation as well as an introduction to three key staff positions integral to providing behavioral/mental health support to families and friends affected by a mass casualty event on campus.
Upon completing the exercise tasks, the U of M MRC is more adequately prepared to set-up a campus Reunification and Family Assistance Center, provide mental health support to individuals affected by a mass causality event on campus, and assist the Medical Examiner’s office with victim identification.
Thank you to all MRC member who participated in this important emergency response training exercise!
