Dear U of MN Medical Reserve Corps Members,
Over the past month, we have experienced a surge in new registrations for membership in the U of M Medical Reserve Corps program, thanks in large part to the email Dr. Brooks Jackson sent out highlighting the Medical Reserve Corps.
As I witnessed the uptick in new MRC registrations, I realized our program was the recipient of the phenomena referred to as "word of mouth".
Whether "word of mouth" is considered a marketing strategy or recruitment tactic, I do know that it works! I have learned from several members that they heard about the MRC program from a colleague or fellow student.
I encourage MRC members to reach out to at least one person in your office, department, or class with information about the MRC program.
Thank you for spreading the word about the U of M MRC program and thank you for your continued engagement.
Warm regards,
Kathy

New Members
I would like to extend a special welcome to the approximatley 100 new MRC members who have registered for membership over the past month. Your participation strengthens our MRC unit's ability to assist the U of M community during a public health disaster and we are glad to have you on board!
A few items of importance for newly registered MRC members.
• We ask that newly registered MRC members view the online orientation within one month of joining the MRC Program.
• Please email me once you have viewed the 35 minute online orientation module and I will order you a MRC ID badge and t-shirt.
• Click here to access the MRC Member Handbook. The member handbook contains information regarding liability, activation and notification procedures, member safety during deployments, and other important items.
I look forward to working with you when we are called upon to be of service to our community.

MRC Member Spotlight: Applications being Accepted
The commitment, expertise, and skills of our U of M MRC members are at the heart of the programs success.
Every month we highlight a member in the MRC newsletter and website. This month we would like to invite our members to consider submitting a short "MRC Bio" to medicalreserve@umn.edu, addressing these three items:
1. How long have you been a MRC member?
2. What was the motivating factor to join the MRC?
3. What MRC related activities have you participated?
We will include the submitted responses in this "Member Spotlight" column over the next several months.
