TULANE CATHOLIC
e-Bulletin
Hi there <<First Name>>,

Personally, Lent is one of my favorite times of the year––it's a gift, a time to purify our hearts and minds, and renew our love for Christ and his Gospel. This past Ash Wednesday over 400 Tulane students, faculty, and staff came to Tulane Catholic––all to begin the Lenten journey.  Please know that I'll be praying for all of you on this journey.

Note below the special schedule of confessions available at Tulane Catholic and other New Orleans churches during Lent.  We also have a couple retreats coming up that you may want to take advantage of to deepen your Lenten experience.

-Fr. Thomas Schaefgen, O.P.
Chaplain & Director

P.S. I ask you to pray especially for our two catechumens, Justin & Jonathan, two Tulane sophomores who will be baptized this Easter.

Lenten Guidelines
Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound to fast may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to each one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals is not permitted.

Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years or older on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and on all Fridays of Lent. The determination of certain days as obligatory days of penance should not be understood as limiting the occasions for Christian penance to those days only.
