A Grand Time in Connecticut!
Wow, we so enjoyed our time in Connecticut attending the opening festivities for our exhibition Exquisite Miniatures at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. There are more entertaining and in-depth stories by Rachelle on our blog. (see the posts below) For now, here are a few pictorial highlights:
Jillian Casey, the museum's Curator of Collections & Exhibitions
and Rachelle with a John Singer Sargent portrait. We were both honored and humbled to learn that this work, along with others by Thomas Eakins and Raphael Soyer was temporarily taken down to install Exquisite Miniatures! We so enjoyed the personal tour of the Museum's collections especially all the historical portrait miniatures!
Rachelle enjoying the Yale Center for British Art. We spent a full day at the Yale Museums and exploring the campus and city of New Haven.
A real treat was getting to see up close a rare copy of the first printed book: A Gutenberg Bible from 1455! Those who have heard Wes' lecture on the history of miniature art know our particular fascination with illuminated manuscripts.
Here are some of our latest available paintings:
" by Rachelle, 3.5 x 3.5 inches
"Common Collared Lizard
" by Wes, 2.5 x 3.5 inches
More new paintings can be seen on the website and on our Facebook pages.
