News for Friend!

January 2021 ~ Next Issue: You tell us!

The Fun Adventure Continues!

 Dear Friend,

We hope this newsletter finds each of you safe, healthy, and enjoying life. We've been busy painting most of December and are looking forward to producing work for the shows we plan to participate in this year as well as upcoming commissions.

We'd like to start this newsletter by asking for your feedback on our newsletters. We have been issuing these monthly mostly due to the frequency of our exhibitions but we anticipate far fewer shows going into our future especially for 2021. Which would you prefer?
  1. Monthly
  2. Bi-Monthly
  3. Quarterly
You can reply to this email with your answer as well as any suggestions you would like us to include for content in the upcoming issues.

You can now interact with us on Instagram with Rachelle posting several times each week. We've been sharing some historical memories on our Facebook pages of us at shows over the years. Rachelle's blog is still published weekly (usually Sunday afternoons) and includes our latest adventures, paintings, and videos that she herself has produced. All of these videos can be found on our YouTube channel.  (Links to our social media accounts are below and on the website). I also recently updated our website most notably redoing the individual subject galleries and adding works that were removed in the past to save space or that I just goofed and forgot to add when we painted them! COVID is still impacting scheduling with museums so I'm updating our schedules as necessary.

Us at the Burt Reynolds ranch for a show in 1995. No, we didn't get to meet Burt and were actually quite thankful as they had us set up our tent too close to his helipad where he was supposed to land!

Rachelle's latest available painting Wood Thrush 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches, $1275

Rachelle is about to sign the last bird painting needed to complete her upcoming poetry book featuring our miniature paintings and her poems about our backyard birds. She's also contemplating the next work in her series after the historical masters. Works in this new series are available at $1850 each. (That's quite a few million less than the larger original masterpieces!) Girl with a Pearl Earring after Vermeer has sold.

I saw this during a visit to see Wes's family in southern Indiana. The boat, with its four beautiful residents, was docked at a marina along the Ohio River. Funny thing was, it appeared the owner was from the south, hence the name Robert E. Lee, and had moved north and was now selling his boat, thus the reason behind the title "A Change of Heart".
A Lofty Perch by Wes
2007, 3 x 2 inches, $300
Currently Unframed
Provenance: General Exhibitions, Seaside Art Gallery Miniature Art Show, Parklane Gallery Miniature Art Show, Fredlund Gallery Miniature Art Show, Exquisite Miniatures

This painting was different for me in that the entire foreground is darker in value than the background - opposite my usual work. I was especially happy to have a successful wet-into-wet wash for the sky on the first attempt!
A Pattern on the Forest Floor by Wes
2005, 2 x 3 inches, $225
Currently Unframed
Provenance: General Exhibitions, Art of the Rainforest Exhibition, World of Nature Exhibition, Exquisite Miniatures

I love all reptiles although I prefer the poisonous ones from a safe distance! This pit viper was behind glass when I took the reference photo. I had the most fun painting that beautiful and penetrating eye!
A Song in the Smokies by Wes
2009, 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches, $300
Currently Unframed
Provenance: General Exhibitions, Up Against the Wall Gallery Show, Exquisite Miniatures

This somewhat impressionistic miniature painting features a Slate-colored Junco atop Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Al Mercado Amazonas by Rachelle
2007, 3 x 2 inches, $300
Currently Unframed
Provenance: General Exhibitions, International Miniature Art Show (MASF), Weatherburn Gallery Miniature Art Show, Cider Painters of America Miniature Art Show, Parklane Gallery Miniature Art Show, Artistic Designs Gallery Miniature Art Show, Exquisite Miniatures

I saw this lush tropical scene at one of the zoos in Florida. I loved all of the Ibis and other birds gathered in the trees, in what was obviously their rookery. Of course, the lovely pinkish color of the building added to the beauty of the setting, and made me feel as if I was in the Amazon jungle somewhere!
Afloat in an Emerald Sea by Wes
2002, 2 x 3 inches, $225
Currently Unframed
Provenance: General Exhibitions, Hilliard Society Miniature Art Exhibition (England), Rowhouse Gallery Show, Parklane Gallery Miniature Art Show, Papermill Gallery Miniature Art Show, Up Against the Wall Gallery, Francesca Anderson Gallery Almost Miniatures Show

This early painting was reworked in 2015 with some value and color adjustments.  We have only done this on a few paintings. This goose was actually swimming here in Towsend on our Little River. The water is only this color in certain places during the winter months when the temperatures allow for more oxygen content.  It looks like water from the Caribbean but it sure doesn't feel like it!
