News for Friend!

October 2021 ~ Next Issue: November 2021

We Did It ... We Think Anyway!

Dear Friend,

Well, we have survived what has been the most stressful period in our lives thus far and we still feel as if we are pushing boulders uphill on ice even now three weeks after our moving day. We'll spare you all the troubles since everyone has plenty go their own today but we do know we'll never do this process again. We are so looking forward on getting things done so we can return to normal but it does appear that most of October will remain slow progress. I'll try to answer some of your questions below along with sharing a few photos of the new house and yard.

Our new address is 7043 Dogwood Rd, Grandview, TN 37337-4004. Our email and phone number have stayed the same. Our new home is about one third the size of our previous one but it sits on a peaceful 6.3 acres. The only drawback was the 500' gravel driveway that needed desperate attention that we thankfully were able to do ourselves this past week. We have spent most of our time since moving in cleaning and doing what projects we can as we await installations and other work we are unable to do ourselves.

We did get to meet the young family that purchased our home and love them. The boys are loving our backyard and are spoiling Rachelle's critters more than she did which doesn't seem possible. We have very happy hummingbirds here at the new house and daily visits from deer. The birds and squirrels have yet to formally introduce themselves to Rachelle's dismay but we know the change of seasons will turn that around. We have about 5 acres of hardwood forest mostly comprised of mature oaks. One has to be cautious walking into the woods here right now.

We are waiting on new carpet to be installed in the house since we cannot finish unpacking hardly anything until it is done. After a month, sleeping on the floor is getting old! We are also waiting on a tree service to take down about a dozen larger trees (most are dead) that could fall across the driveway or impact the house in the future. The installation of our carport has been put off until the trees are down. It took over two weeks for us to get the satellite internet installed as well as our new phone service but both are working now and the office is set up enough to do some work. The studio is still at least a month away unless the carpet installation happens sooner.

We are building roofs over both of our decks and plan to screen them in too. We treated ourselves to an 8 x 20' greenhouse kit to save us considerable time and labor in buidling one. It is due to arrive towards the end of this month. We will also put up a fence for a future garden area safe from the deer. Additional work will need to be done on the driveway but mostly this will be spread by the trucks delivering the loads now that we have the driveway ready for them. More photos will be shared on the blog and next month's newsletter.

~ Wes

Rachelle is halfway through 6 tons of gravel. Thankfully, we moved it all downhill!
