Dave Husman, at the October Opsig meeting, presented great info on Pre-1977 handling of hazardous materials.  You can view the recorded meeting here.
Just a warning.  Dave's internet went out of service about half way through the presentation.  While he was reconnecting Lee Nichols described the "mole staging" area of his Utah Colorado Western.  Dave returned with the remaining half of his presentation after Lee finished.   Dave also posted a PDF copy of his slides here

Here are the notes on a few of the past and upcoming virtual meetings as supplied by George Sinos -

NMRA-X  is the "virtual convention" put together by Gordy Robinson and several other volunteers.  The most recent updated information is on the NMRA facebook group.  Membership is free.  The actual Live event is on the NMRA Facebook PAGE not the group.  You don't need to be a member of Facebook to watch.  In the future, the live events will be simulcast on the NMRA's YouTube page.  The clinics are recorded and posted on the NMRA YouTube page a few days after the live event.

The Opsig has been hosting weekly clinics via Zoom. Membership is not required.  Information on the live and past events is on the Opsig web page.  Events are recorded and posted on YouTube.  I'll just include the single link to the Opsig page. The descriptions and links to the individual events can be found there.

The Twin Cities Model Rails group has held several clinics and layout tours as Facebook Live events. These have all been recorded and are on the William Sampson's "Soo the Milwaukee Road" Youtube Channel.  The first six layout tours are in this playlist.

Next Meeting

- We are again going to replace our in-person December get-together at the Papillion Library with a ZOOM video call.

The Saturday, December 5th  Zoom session number for this month's meeting is 814 7259 7874 and the password is whdnmra12.

The Zoom session will begin at 9:00 am. When you join the ZOOM call on Saturday, December 5th, you will be directed to a "waiting room" and allowed access to our meeting by the zoom call host. The session will last no longer than two and a half hours.

THIS MONTH: Dave Husman has agreed to give us an overview of his home layout, the Wilmington and Northern Branch 1900-1905. This HO layout features Code 55 and 70 handlaid track. Don’t miss this great presentation.

After his presentation we will open it up for layout updates from WHD members.

Please send your email address to Ron Brozanic at if you plan to take part in the call and Ron will add this event (hopefully) to your calendar for easy access to the session.

We are soliciting volunteers for a short presentation for our Zoom calls!  Please let us know if you want to show us your layout or if you have a clinic topic you would like to present at one of our monthly get-togethers.

Future Meetings - (Presentations and Clinics subject to Change)

JANUARY 9th: Bob Albano will deliver a clinic on making scrap metal loads.

FEBRUARY 6th: George Sinos will give a presentation on how to transition from traditional car cards to JMRI Operations Pro.

MARCH 6th: Ron Brozanic will give the full story of the Faifax Double helix on his Faifax and Leavenworth HO layout.

If you have suitable information that could or should be shared with other WHD members here in THE OBSERVATION CAR, please send an email to Ron Brozanic at Thanks

Later on down the line, reb
