Rosete-Medeiros as President & CEO

Hale Kipa is pleased to announce the appointment of Venus Kauʻiokawēkiu Rosete-Medeiros as President & CEO. The Hawai‘i nonprofit organization, which has served at-risk youth and their families for more than 50 years, conducted a search for a new CEO last fall after longtime CEO Punky Pletan-Cross announced his retirement.

Rosete-Medeiros has more than 35 years of experience serving youth and families in Hawai’i. Her extensive background includes work with nonprofit organizations, as well as private and public school systems. More

Celebrating Hale Kipa’s Dedicated Professionals During the 2022 National Social Work Month

Each March, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) celebrates social workers for their dedication to helping others and making our society a better place to live for all.

Social workers have served as an integral part of the United States for decades. They played key roles in the civil rights and women’s rights movements, supported marriage and employment protections for LGBTQ people, and fought for social programs that we now take for granted, such as the minimum wage. More

On February 26, Hale Kipa held a very special ALOHA CELEBRATION in honor of Punky Pletan-Cross (Hale Kipa retired CEO) and welcomed Venus Kauʻiokawēkiu Rosete-Medeiros (Hale Kipa President & CEO). We are deeply moved by the support to mālama the youth and families of Hawaiʻi from our sponsors. Without YOU, we could not be where we are today nor navigate towards the future to ensure that youth and families thrive. Mahalo nui!

A Special Dedication

On Jan. 19, 2022, in the Hale Kipa courtyard, the leadership team presented former CEO Punky Pletan-Cross and his wife, Cris, with a jade color, stone bench and a plaque to recognize their extraordinary contribution to Hale Kipa over the last 23 years.

In the spirit of kahiauselfless generosity, and in honor of Punky's 23 years of service to the organization and the community, the Punky Fund was established to meet those special needs of our ‘ōpio, their ‘ohana, and our staff that are not already funded by grants and contracts. The fund has already collected over $6,500 towards these goals.
