This newsletter is late this month! I'm sorry about that. I have no fancy explanation or excuse: I just forgot to send it last week. I've added a reminder to my calendar now, so I shouldn't forget again. I'm going to pretend that I'm sending this last week, and just include May's books in this newsletter. I'll send the newsletter with June's books out on the usual schedule.

In other news: it looks like the sequel to Petunia, the Girl Who Was NOT a Princess will be going ahead. I have no timing information on that yet, though, so stay tuned!

Also, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this yet: both Petunia, the Girl Who Was NOT a Princess and The Zebra Said Shhh are now available as bilingual books, with the text in Spanish and English. I have links to those editions on the My Books page on my website.

This Month's Books

The Beasties, by Jenny Nimmo, illustrated by Gwen Millward

This is such a lovely book, both in the stories and in the pictures. It is the story about a little girl who has moved into a new house and is having a hard time sleeping, until the Beasties who live under her bed teach her how to tell bedtime stories.

Kitchen God, by Lei Xiong, illustrated by Kim Xiong, translated by Clarissa Yu Shen

This is a charming story about the kitchen god who watches over the household, told from the point of view of a child in the house.
