The First Shoes Have Landed!

Our first 300 shoes have arrived at the Hope protection homes. These homes are for the highest risk children living in Kolkata, India. They are either orphans or street children living in fear of being trafficked for their body parts or sod into slavery. Did you know that India has ben listed as the country with the most slaves with an estimated 14 million by the Global Slavery Index. 200,000 Indian children are sold into slavery each year, many by their parents for a mere $ 17 dollars.

Poverty is one of the three key factors that enables trafficking to flourish, Hope support eight protection homes and your purchases are putting Hope Kids in new shoes!

The last 100 shoes are still reaching our Bengal village. Next issue we will be reporting on these children.
Thank you to our beautiful Moeloco community for
making this possible!

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Happy Chinese New Year!

I love that I'm here with you again at another time of festivities. My ancestors definitely knew how to throw a party and today around a sixth of the world celebrate this event. It's the Year of the goat which according to the Oriental calendar, will be the year of humanity.

Life is getting better after the years of chaos in the world, politically and economically and there is a new movement of consciousness that's changing the world, does this sound like a familiar message (see Moeloco blogs and social media posts hmm).

Being a Banana in China

Taking a trip to China to oversee the manufacture of our first product was such a wonderful experience for me on so many levels. Firstly I had a chance to reconnect with my roots. I’m what is called a “banana”. I was born in Sydney, Australia to my Chinese parents, Malcolm and Jan Wong. I am the oldest of three children all born in Sydney.

Why a banana? I have yellow skin, however I’m white on the inside.
