More than 500 local operators get together for SCouT21!

Thank you to all our members, industry colleagues and visitor information centre volunteers who attended SCouT 21 – the Sunshine Coast Big Day Out for Tourism Operators – last week! Across the day, more than 500 people attended the event which is the largest industry-to-industry tourism exchange held on the Sunshine Coast. The event is a fantastic opportunity for attractions and accommodation providers to come together and form working partnerships, and we strongly encourage our industry to build on those connections you made on the day to create new packages and grow referrals. Keynote speaker at the event, Amanda Stevens, did a brilliant job in highlighting the importance of standing united as an industry to improve the customer experience. Let’s build on those learnings in the next 12 months, and already we are looking forward to SCouT 22!

The Sunshine Coast’s official visitor guide for 2021/22 hits shelves!

Always on Social Campaign

VSC has launched an ‘always on’ social media campaign that will continually market our region to travellers across Australia’s east coast. The campaign will target consumers with messages that are relevant to their interests, encouraging them to start planning a Sunshine Coast escape. The Always On social media campaign complements our Always On search engine marketing activity, with both campaigns driving traffic to and sites.

Our sub-regional campaign has rolled out across social media. The campaign made 2.3 million impressions and had an engagement rate of 378,000. The campaign also included native tiles across news sites, which were seen by 7.8 million people and resulted in more than 5,000 clicks through to the Sunshine Coast For Real site. Two feature articles, one focused on the Hinterland and the other the coast, were published on The Courier-Mail as part of the campaign, and phase two has gone live and will be in market for four weeks.

VSC is encouraging mountain bikers to travel to the region ‘For real riding’ during the winter and spring months via a targeted campaign with Australian Mountain Bike Magazine.

Sunshine Coast in the media

Make sure to tune in to Taste of Australia with Hayden Quinn this Sunday at 4:30pm on Channel 10! VSC has funded and coordinated a dedicated half-hour episode of the series, which will take viewers on a culinary journey of the region including Templeton Ginger, Spirit House Restaurant & Cooking School and The Ginger Factory, as well as things to do, such as Coolum Surfing School. The broadcast is one of many scheduled to air for the region, with New Zealand morning show TVNZ Breakfast holding weather crosses in the region - supported by Tourism Australia, and TEQ -  next week.

Last week, award-winning travel and lifestyle program Eat, Stay & Play – which airs on Foxtel - filmed across the Sunshine Coast. Funded and coordinated by VSC, the crews showcased the region from the coast to the Hinterland.

In print, travel journalist Carla Grossetti wrote a feature article for Australian Traveller on Saltwater Eco Tours’ Cultural Tour, as well as places to stay, eat, play and do across the Sunshine Coast, following a VSC arranged media famil. VSC is running an initiative encouraging locals to support the region’s tourism industry and explore their own backyard, view the guide to Gympie here.
