Connections with industry and government a pathway to success

It was a pleasure to welcome Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe to our region yesterday for the annual Conversations With Industry – Sunshine Coast event. The information sessions were insightful, as understanding consumer behaviour and travel trends are vitally important as we continue to navigate through COVID-19 and re-establish the industry. The event provided an excellent opportunity for operators to hear direct from TEQ about their current and future marketing plans, ask questions, and learn how to get involved with their programs.

Making your business visible in a very crowded marketplace is, naturally, a priority, and one the biggest take-outs from the session was that if you want to be featured on sites such as queensland.com and the soon-to-be-unveiled new-look visitsunshinecoast.com site, you need first to create a listing with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW). Registration with ATDW is currently free, and will see your business included on up to 50 leading travel sites ensuring visibility for your product. There are more details below.

I also encourage everyone who hasn’t already registered for next Tuesday’s SCouT 2021 – the Sunshine Coast Big Day Out for Tourism Operators. This is our region’s largest business-to-business industry exchange and a great way to establish new working partnerships. There are still spaces available for our afternoon session, and registration details can be found below.

I look forward to seeing you there.

CEO, Visit Sunshine Coast
