A Note From the President
Happy February! It’s been another crazy month of not knowing which way we are heading, but the good news is it looks like our COVID-19 numbers are trending downward after a big, crazy spike!
I want to give a big shout-out to Beth Meyerhoff for stepping into the 7th VP position. She and her team are working full blast to pull together Capitol Comes to Town on a short timeline!
Last week, I had a chat with Eileen Hupp, the president of the PV Chamber of Commerce, on how we could strengthen our relationship with the members of the chamber. We came up with two ideas that we would like to explore. The first is Principal for the Day, where a local business member shadows a principal to gain insight into the daily workings and problems going on in our schools. This program is done by several chambers in Southern California and was suggested by Marta Jenovois-Richardson, who participated in it in another school district. The second idea is “Career Creators,” where a business might give tours, hold a “Day in the Life of” event, or mentor students to help them explore different career opportunities. Please let me know if you have any ideas or would like to help explore these programs.
I am looking forward to seeing our presidents at our brunch on March 4 and everyone at our Annual Council Meeting on March 18. We are exploring having our Annual Council Meeting live at an off-site location, so please have your historians gather photos for their photo boards. Please also have them turn in their historian reports by Feb. 28. We don’t have a council historian this year, so reports can be sent to me.
Thank you for all you do! One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time, and our children are fortunate to have all of you giving so much of your time!
With much gratitude,
Mariko Hama
