From the Senior Pastor

Dear Beloveds,

I hear people talking about how they are leaving the city to spend time to refresh and recalibrate in nature. There is so much beauty for rest in God’s good creation outside DC!

And there is such beauty in DC. We can be thrilled that our Sacred Commons, the gardens and grass surrounding Luther Place Church in downtown DC, are providing the gifts of nature for our ArtSmart Camp on our Tuesday in-person, outdoor days.

The space holds painters, gardeners, dancers and more this week!

The Sacred Commons space is remarkably adaptable to intergenerational activities — and for that I give thanks!

My gratitude mirrors the teaching of the Magnolia tree this week — give thanks.

We give thanks for Painters…

all creation!

Giving thanks for you today!

in Christ,
Pastor Karen Brau

Luther Place congratulates and thanks Gary Maring for his 50 years of service and leadership with N Street Village as longtime board member and advocate for ending homelessness. As he steps away from the board, we are so grateful for the impactful work he has done for N Street Village. Luther Place is so blessed to have Gary as a member of our community and for his determined, faithful leadership and advocacy for justice and compassion for all.

Immigration advocacy groups including Faith in Action are urging all to call on their Congressional representatives to create a pathway to citizenship for millions of essential workers and their families, Dreamers, and TPS holders in the upcoming jobs and infrastructure reconciliation bill. Senator Sanders has tentatively agreed to add these important immigrant citizenship provisions to the Senate bill his committee is drafting. Further information and talking points can be found at this link. Contact Gary Maring for any questions.
