Stay COVID Safe

As we head towards a busier period over the coming months it is very important to refresh your COVID safe plans and remind everyone on your team that restrictions are still in place and keeping our village COVID Safe is a team effort.  As of the first of December there have been some changes to restrictions. Small hospitality venues ( up to 200 square metres in size) can apply the two square meter rule indoors. Click here for more information.

Thredbo MTB school holiday camps start next week on the 7th of December.

School Holiday MTB Camps are a great way for kids to develop their gravity skills in the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park. Catering for kids aged 7 – 14 years, students will work on mountain biking fundamentals, gravity specific riding techniques, pump track skills, plus some valuable bike setup and maintenance workshops.

Your child will be allocated to a small class (maximum 5 per class) with a dedicated instructor to maximise progression and riding time. On the last day, we’ll send them home with a report card outlining their areas of improvement. Click here to book. Week 1 of December is already booked out so get in quick for later dates.

While our major summer events have been cancelled  there is still a calendar or smaller events planned for the summer including MTB, Food and Wine and Wellness Weekends. Check out the calendar here.

Skate Park Maintenance

Please be advised that the Thredbo skate park will be CLOSED for three days next week (9th - 11th of December) to allow for some significant repair and maintenance works to be undertaken.  With the skate park entering its fifth year of operation this coming January, it is time to give the park a facelift !

As the works involve repairs to the concrete surfaces, re-painting of the features and a re-seal of the entire concrete surface, the park will be completely closed for the three days.  The park will have construction fencing installed around the perimeter preventing access to the park so please respect the closure to ensure the repairs go smoothly and we have a great outcome.  While the timing is not great, we had to balance the availability of contractors, weather and anticipated visitation, so here we are.

It would be of great assistance if we could spread the word to all those likely to be affected by the closure.

TVT Track Updates.  Where you can ride.

Upgrade works are commencing today between Bridge 1 and Elevated Platform 104 (which is between Thredbo Resort and Rangers Station). There will be a detour available to bypass the work zone, allowing riding from Thredbo to Bullocks Flat, however the detour does include some steep and rocky sections. So unfortunately the detour is not as green/easy/family friendly as the TVT is supposed to be through here, so please keep that in mind before attempting.
A reminder that the following areas will remain closed until Saturday 19 December 2020 for upgrade works that are planned to increase the sustainability, safety and durability of the track:
  • Thredbo Valley track between Bullocks Flat and Gaden Trout Hatchery
  • Bullocks Hut precinct
There is no public access to Skitube Carpark D, Bullocks Hut and Lower Thredbo Valley track for the duration of the works.
Detours and guidance signage will be in place from Thredbo Valley track, Muzzlewood track and Bullocks walking track to and from Skitube Carpark C, and onto Lake Crackenback Resort.
Keep checking the alerts page on the NPWS website as there are other closures throughout the upcoming riding season.

Snowy Drop In Centre

Dear Thredbo Chamber of Commerce Members

You may have heard already that this NSW-Government-funded business-recovery service  is running again in our region. As before, please be aware that I’m here to help for any small/medium business that needs it.

As a reminder, my place in in the broad range of services is - helping small businesses (including sole traders) that don’t know where to start, or don’t know what support is out there. Maybe they’re overwhelmed, or maybe they’ve been knocked back by one of the grants and don’t know where to go next. I don’t have all the answers, but I can spend the time necessary to understand what each business needs and then find the right support mechanism for them.

If you need help please contact me on email.

Best regards,

Thor Slater
