This is what we have been waiting for. The Greenlight has been given by NPWS and the RFS, Thredbo is open from Tuesday and we can run the Thredbo 2020 Blues Festival.
KT is committed to making this event a relaunch for the remainder of our summers season. It will obviously give us a chance to get visitors back into Thredbo this weekend, but also will be a perfect springboard to the Australia Day weekend.
Here is the notice from KT:
Thredbo Blues Festival Update! We are delighted to announce that the 26th Annual Thredbo Blues Festival will proceed this weekend, 17 – 19 January 2020. The decision has been made following the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) and the National Parks Wildlife Service (NPWS) confirming that Thredbo Alpine Resort is able to open to the public from Tuesday 14 January 2020. We appreciate your patience and we look forward to a huge weekend of Blues ahead.
NOTE: From Tuesday 14 January 2020, usual summer resort operations will resume including all in-resort facilities including Kosciuszko Express Chair, the Thredbo Mountain Bike Park, Thredbo Leisure Centre, resort walking trails, golf, tennis, bobsled and all Thredbo retail and food and beverage venues. Please note, the Thredbo Valley Trail (TVT) and hikes that go outside Thredbo’s resort boundaries including the Mount Kosciuszko Summit Hike, Mount Townsend Hike, Alpine Lakes Hike, Dead Horse Gap Hike, The Ruins Hike and The Ramshead Hike will remain closed until further notice. All staff, residents and visitors must stay within the Thredbo Resort area. We will keep you posted as and when those areas reopen.

Some members have voiced concerns about the event:
"Nobody will come, they will be frightened away"
Blues fans a very loyal and many have been coming for decades. If it is on, they will come. It may not be as busy as previous years but it will still be a great opportunity to launch back and recover. KT have a marketing plan in place to really give the event a good shove over the coming few days. The Chamber office will contact as many accommodation houses as we can to ensure that we can provide a reliable estimate to Village Occupancy for planning and catering purposes
"My Staff have all gone I can't get organised in time"
Between Jindabyne and the valley there is a small army of trained hospitality staff short of shifts. If you need more staff, get on Facebook, Jindy Job guide and they will be there.
Let’s take this opportunity to salvage some business for January and just as importantly make some noise to let people know we are back in business. We will need volunteers to help with organisation and over the weekend so if you can spare some time contact Kali on email@example.com
Lets work together to get this Festival up and running. It is good for Thredbo and the region and the marketing opportunities from this are a great way to get people back in town quickly. More news to follow
