For the month of June, the office will be open Monday through Thursday from 8am - 2pm.
8th Grade Graduation
Our 8th grade graduation ceremony will take place in the church at 10am on Saturday, June 20th. Graduation practice will take place on Thursday, June 18th. Graduates need to be at church at 6:15pm. Please bring your mask.
Although only the graduates and their parents will be permitted inside the church during the ceremony, you are invited to participate afterwards. Upon conclusion of the ceremony, around 10:30am, the graduates will line up outside on the circular drive. You are invited to drive by them, waving, honking and wishing them well in High School next year. I recommend that you park in the church parking lot until you see the graduates leave the church.
Spring Fling Update
Thanks for all your support and patience.
We have decided on a final date for St. John's Spring Fling.
Please join us on Friday, June 26th at Wolfey's for our rescheduled event. We will continue to follow the Governor's guideline updates. If we are still not able to have 100% of capacity at venues then we will have an online auction on this date as a backup.
Those of you who have purchased tickets and can't attend may either request a full refund or donate it to the cause. (Send us a message).
Kari Knudtson & Heather Thompson
Summer school will take place this year from Monday, July 6th, through Friday, July 31st. Reading will be from 8 - 9am, and Math will be from 9 - 10am.
Mrs. Bussan & Mrs. Yearous (our new 5th grade teacher) will host the math class, while Ms. Loyd and Mrs. Grover will host the reading class. The cost for one program is $100 or $150 if your child is attending both. If you have multiple children attending please contact me at school so we can discuss further cost reduction. Payment is expected on the first day of summer school. All participants must wear a mask.
If you do not have one, one will be provided. The Indee Food Pantry is distributing masks free of charge. You can contact them at 319-334-2451
Again this summer, if your child is entering grades 2 through 8, he/she will be required
to read. If they are an incoming 2nd through 4th grader, the student will be required to read two books. If they are entering 5th through 8th grade, they are required to read three books. Reading will be verified through the Reading Counts
program. If the book does not exist in the Reading Counts library please contact your child's teacher for approval. I will be here Monday through Thursday each day, from 8am - 2pm; exceptions can be made by contacting me. I will be available to your students so they can return and check out books as well as take the Reading Counts
tests. Most of the books on the list are available in our Public library. Those students who read seven books or more will be invited to breakfast, hosted by the principal.
Yearbooks have gone to print and should be ready for purchase next week. You can pay for your yearbook ($12) when you pick it up.
Y-Camp for the incoming 7th and 8th graders will take place from September 2 - 4 this year. We need your help. Please volunteer to chaperone.
You can contact Mrs. Bussan at email@example.com if you have any questions.
